On January 4th, the company announced that they had reached an agreement to purchase government payment processing company, GovPayNet. The terms of the deal were not disclose but GovPayNet will continue to operate under its current name for the foreseeable future. The acquisition is the latest in a number of deals that Securus has reached with other companies over the past decade. It further aligns the company with services that it already provides and gives them a larger market share in the prison technology sector. GovPayNet was founded in 1997 and is headquartered in Indianapolis. They have current contracts with over 3,500 agencies, covering over 26% of counties in the United States.
